BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

 

Breast reconstruction surgery recreates the shape and size of the breast following Breast Cancer Surgery (Mastectomy) or, occasionally, breast conserving surgery (Lumpectomy).

It can be done at the same time as your surgery (immediate reconstruction) or as a separate procedure at a later time, even many years later (delayed reconstruction).

There are many different options available for reconstruction and much to consider so it can seem overwhelming. Options include using tissue from your own body (Autologous) or using Synthetic Implants to construct a natural looking breast.

Reconstruction also includes reformation of the nipple and areolar.

Mr Shah has a specific interest in Breast Reconstruction. He will discuss all the options available to you and use the one most suited for your needs.

All of the procedures are carried out under General Anaesthesia and will involve a hospital stay.
