HAND SURGERY

 

Hands are an amazing part of our body that allow us an ability to perform multiple different activities of potentially incredible dexterity.  Unfortunately, things can go wrong and there are a variety of conditions that can affect the hand.  These may involve the joints, the bones and the surrounding soft tissues, all of which can impede on our daily routine.

 

Common Elective conditions include:

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Dupytrens Disease

  • De Quervains Syndrome

  • Trigger Finger

  • Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

  • Basal Thumb Arthritis

 

Mr Shah will assess each hand individually and tailor treatment specifically to each problem.

 

Common Hand Trauma

  • Hand Fractures

  • Flexor and Extensor Tendon injuries

  • Fingertip/ Nail injuries

  • Nerve Injuries

  • Skiers Thumb

  • Crush injuries and Amputations

 

Mr Shah has been trained in Melbourne’s major trauma centres (Royal Alfred Hospital and St Vicents Hospital) as well as some the UK’s major trauma centres (Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham and St James’ Hospital Leeds).

Mr Shah will provide prompt and comprehensive care ensuring patients are able to return to using their hands as soon as possible.

​

The treatment of hand conditions requires a team approach. Patients may require Hand therapy as part of their management, this will include Splinting, Exercise and Wound Care. Mr Shah ensures he works closely with his hand therapists to achieve a successful outcome.
